Anna Evans

Anna Evans was born in 1983 in Rochdale, northern England, migrating to New Zealand as a child in 1994. Evans believes her work has been heavily influenced by the impressions migration first had on her, specifically the intensity and difference of natural occurring colours and shapes to that of her homeland.

Being from the typically grey-skied Manchester, she remembers feeling awestruck by the rich and vibrant colours present in sky, sea, flora and fauna. It is these early observations of light, vivid colour, textures and diverse ecosystems that continue to inform Evans’ work.

After graduating Elam school of fine Arts in 2004, Evans went into full time employment as a children’s book illustrator, games designer, arts educator and painter.
