Alice Toomer
Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington
Alice Toomer has gained a reputation for her ultra-sweet photorealistic paintings of confectionery and desserts. Using acrylic paint as her primary medium, Alice operates at an impressive level of intricacy, generating lifelike lighting and texture in her work.
Alice began painting at the age of twelve, and has since then achieved recognition around New Zealand, winning a number of awards. She has displayed her works in various group shows and has had several solo exhibitions. Alice has also been honoured as an invited guest artist in shows around the South Island.
Originally from Dunedin, Alice Toomer is self-taught and has inherited the painting genes from her father, acclaimed New Zealand landscape artist John Toomer.
