Nocturnes

03 - 04 August 26

Opening night:
Friday 3rd July, 5-7pm

These Ruru stand in quiet observation. Formed in black stoneware, they emerge from darkness with the steady gaze of watchful eyes.

In Greek and Roman tradition, the owl was associated with wisdom, judgement and the rare ability to see clearly in darkness. A watcher of the night, it became a symbol of perception beyond ordinary sight.

For me, the Ruru embodies contemplation, vigilance and the enduring presence of the wild. These works are less portraits of birds than reflections on attention itself.

Nocturnes is an invitation to pause and linger in that threshold where darkness is not simply absence, but another way of seeing.
