Jane Shriffer

Path of Least Resistance

07 - 28 February 25

Opening night:
Friday 7th February, 5pm – 7pm

In her latest body of work, ‘Path of Least Resistance’, Jane Shriffer explores themes of summer that are prevalent in our alpine paradise.

Colourful lilos floating in the pool; Central Otago fruits in deep cherry reds and plum hues; beautiful fields of wildflowers; and endless bags of potato chips by the crystal blue lake.

Painted from intuition and emotion, Shriffer allows her works to simply flow, culminating into a canvas of layers of colour and texture, the use of brush and singular palette knife clearly visible. Each movement is considered, resulting in a rhythmic surface alive with movement and expressed in lush, vibrant colour.

Evoking the bright, clear joy of activity and the long, lazy dog days of summer, her works are titled according to the specific moment in time when they were painted, anchoring each piece as a visual diary, recorded in an abstract yet perceptible language.
