Opening night:
Friday 1st May, 5pm – 7pm
𝘌𝘹𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘯, 𝘍𝘳𝘢𝘨𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘎𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘯 and 𝘗𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘮𝘦 - exploring the connection between materials to its final form,
The series reimagines traditional methods of a certain medium, transformed or redefined by its own material. For example, the 𝘌𝘹𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘯 body of works presents sculptural clay forms decorated by clay or other natural oxides, rather than being finished with a traditional shiny glaze. Similarly, 𝘍𝘳𝘢𝘨𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘎𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘯 uses wood as its canvas and timber stains to create a direct connection between a material and its purpose, then re-envisioned to simply exist as a beautiful object.
In contrast, the 𝘗𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘮𝘦 series is a playful colour exhibition where each work acts as characters who come together to perform a show. It uses traditional glazes and contemporary methods to connect painting and ceramics, using glazes as a form of paint and clay as a canvas.
