Opening night:
Friday 7th August, 5-7pm
With her latest series, ‘Incline’, Belinda returns to her printing press to create a series of monochrome works on paper. The unique qualities of the monotype printmaking technique compliment Belinda’s characteristically expressive style, allowing the works to walk the line between figuration and abstraction.
The word incline suggests a movement as well as an attitude. ‘Incline the ear of your heart’ is a line from a centuries old text, which speaks to the idea of leaning in and listening well.
With these works, Belinda explores this duality. On the surface, the brushstrokes suggest movement, bodily form and muscle fibres - but as we lean in, they begin to communicate something more intangible, a gestural quality that underpins the emotion behind the works.
