But dawn - dawn is a gift ~ Mary Oliver
Up at dawn for her daily commute along country roads, Belinda is a regular witness to the sun rise. Rays of sunlight beam through silhouetted trees, cutting through the lifting fog, casting dark shadows across the grass.
‘That first light is so fleeting and mysterious. I feel so grateful to be glimpsing it. In just a few minutes the whole scene will change and that moment is gone.’
With these works Belinda seeks to capture the everyday and the ordinary, momentarily transformed to the sublime.
John Daly-peoples, editor of NZ Arts Review, wrote of Belinda works; “ …[Belinda] touches on the nuances of the person, and their awareness of their environment – physically, cerebrally and spiritually.”
